KAIST Student Exchange programs are available to students currently studying at an overseas institution which has a student exchange agreement with KAIST. KAIST currently has agreements with over 70 universities all over the world. Exchange students are able to study at KAIST for one or two semesters and are enrolled as non-degree students. KAIST will offer exchange students from around the world an unforgettable study aboard experience.
Application and Admission
Students in good standing from partner universities are eligible to apply to KAIST as exchange students according to bilateral cooperative agreements. Exchange students who are nominated by their home universities are accepted based on the final decision of KAIST after careful review of their applications. In addition, students from other universities may be accepted on a case-by-case basis according to the recommendation from their respective home universities.
Tuition and fees
Tuition and fees are not assessed to the international exchange students from the overseas partner universities which have established agreements and/or Memorandum of Understanding including the item of bilateral tuition exemption.
How can I apply
- Step 1. Download and complete the application form for incoming exchange students.
- Step 2. Attached the following documents.
- An up-to-date original transcript(s) in English
- Statement of Purpose (one page, word processed only)
- Three passport-size photos (write your name on the back of both photos)
- English Language Proficiency Record
- Step 3. Submit them to the International Relations Team at your home University.

- Spring Semester : November 15
- Fall Semester : May 15

A goal of KAIST is to globalize academic and research activities and produce creative Global leader equipped with international experience. Based on the goal, all freshmen and sophomore courses be delivered in English to enhance students’ global competitiveness and provide improved education to foreign students. And all undergraduate and graduate courses at KAIST will be delivered in English by 2010.
